Electrical Machines & Power Electronics Systems (EMPES) Lab

The EMPES lab is a newly minted group specializing in Electrical Energy conversion and is situated in the Department of Energy Science & Engineering (DESE) at IIT Bombay.  I am a (founding) PI of EMPES lab along with two other faculty members, Prof. Pavan Hari & Prof. Ravi Prakash Reddy.

We endeavor to advance scientific research in Electrical Machines & Power Electronics Systems, and, develop novel technological solutions for applications spanning Grid Integration of Renewable Energy systems (such as Wind & Solar PV), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Electric Vehicles & E-mobility infrastructure, as well as futuristic Green Macro-grids. Building in-house hardware prototypes for demonstration & validation as well as close industry interaction are key focal points of our lab.
